Ivan the Terrier, Inc. was founded by Jenny Brewer Treviño in 2011 and named after her dog, Ivan the Terrier (1994-2011.) The corporation became inactive after the purpose for which it was created proved to be beyond Jenny’s resources.

In 2020, Ivan the Terrier, Inc. was reorganized as a public charity and registered as tax exempt for the purposes of operating IVAN Library and Classy Clerical. Ivan the Terrier, Inc., also operates Buds of the Library! BOTL is a support organization for those who wish to help keep Ivan the Terrier, Inc. going! IVAN Library is a one-person microlibrary, specializing in advanced assistance for members of the Greater Galveston-Houston area LGBTQIA+ community who are Isolated, Vulnerable, Anxious, Neurodiverse, or Non-conforming.

IVAN Library provides advanced low- and no-cost assistance to families and individuals facing social barriers in their roles as consumers of the entire spectrum of products and services; including information, technology, education, small business, medical, financial, legal, cultural, and media.

Classy Clerical raises funds for IVAN Library by offering the Librarian’s clerical and content production services to the community for a suggested donation of $38.11 per hour. Donations made in exchange for services are only tax deductible in the amount by which they exceed the suggested hourly rate. Donations are not required to receive services. Limitations may apply depending on staff capacity.
